Biography

Taylor Patterson is a Ph.D candidate in 19th century American History at the University of Florida. She attended Occidental College with minor concentrations in Comparative Literature and Gender Studies. Her dissertation “Matrons, Maidens, and Madwomen: Gender, Space, and Consumption in Chicago 1863-1893” analyzes representations of women in print media during the Civil War Sanitary Fairs, the Great Fire, and the World’s Columbian Exposition.
